IN THE NEWS AT ALL SOULS
WOMENS ALLIANCE The Women's Alliance scheduled two well-attended outings during June and Julyone, to the revival mansion Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, to view their special rose gardens, and one to the Chinese Scholar's Garden on Staten Island.
ADULT EDUCATION
An important event that took place in May was a series of four lectures with discussions about the elusive quest for peace in the Middle East organized by the Rev. David Robb as part of the Adult Education program. Four different speakers provided a historical overview, presentations from the Israeli and Palestinian points of view on different evenings and finally a summing up about the role of the US in the Peace process. The audience, many not from All Souls, responded with passionate remarks and questions.
LIFESCAPES
Lifescapes met for their annual Reunion at Inez Miller's home for those who had attended previous Retreats and those interested in getting involved in the future.
BOOKS BY MEMBERS
All Souls writers with newly published books included Sylvia Ann Hewlett, (see: "Who We Are,") and Mary Beth Sanders Smith whose collection of short fiction was published in May by Lintel publishers. The author is donating her portion of the profits to the Daniel J. McGulen Foundation for Downs Syndrome.
