Revelers at All Souls welcomed the Chinese New |
EDITORS CORNERThis has been a bleak winter. January, February and March have been a dreary time in New York, both in terms of the inclement weather and the stressful political situation as the United States prepared for war. Church activities reflected the situation in sermons, lectures and antiwar protests and marches. Even though the actual fighting is over now, the dangers of future terrorist attacks aggravated by the post-war events in Iraq still throw a code-orange high-alert pall over the country's general mood.Nonetheless, All Souls managed to fill the winter months with a host of pleasant activities anyway. The successful Heart & Souls Auction (and pre-Auction party) is of course the major February event. Worries were set aside during the Chinese New Year celebration and a joyful St. Patrick's Day Party. Dan Pryor's interview of All Souls author Laura Pedersen, arranged by the Women's Alliance, brought a delightful touch of humor to this book-signing event. Task forces, outreach programs, and our many committees continued to function without missing a beat. Now, as spring finally approaches, the weather and the political situation hopefully will combine to lift our communal spirit.
