A CELEBRATION FOR WARREN BRYAN

—by Stephen Michelman

On May 20, 2004, Stories with Soul saluted its founder, Warren Bryan, 90, at a ceremony at Atria West Side, a retirement community at 333 West 86th Street, where Warren resides. Approximately thirty people attended, including members of Warren’s family. A beautiful scroll designed and provided by James Moskin was presented to Warren by Dr. Church and a duplicate copy now hangs in the Ware Room. Minister Emeritus Dick Leonard also spoke. An elaborate buffet was donated by Atria.

Stories with Soul, a short story reading and discussion group, which Warren, a prominent actor, founded years ago, has grown tremendously over the years and now has an average weekly attendance of about 25. It meets every Wednesday evening throughout the year at 6:45PM in the lovely setting of the Ware Room and is an extremely popular activity at All Souls. All are invited and no prior reading is necessary.

The scroll presented to Warren states in part:

“Warren’s generosity of spirit, love of literature and his leap of imagination in creating a forum to share that love and enthusiasm with others has given immense pleasure and personal growth to its many participants and has spread to other congregations and groups in New York and beyond.”
