THE 30S/40S FELLOWSHIP

—by Lois Chazen

In conjunction with the Housing Task Force—a newly formed All Souls group under the leadership of John Watson, a contingent of the 30s/40s Fellowship, led by Paula Stelzner, worked for the Habitat for Humanity Organization to help restore a gutted five story building at West 128th Street in Harlem on January 29th and 30th, building walls and doing other light construction jobs. Six members of the group worked on Saturday and five on Sunday, measuring, cutting and nailing wall studs and framing rods for the six apartment units being created. This was the beginning of what it is hoped will become an ongoing effort to help relieve the housing shortage for the poor in the city.

In addition to this outreach effort, the 30s/40s members sponsored many other activities, including a trip to the Museum of the Moving Image led by Arthur Hopkirk, a Golf and Dinner outing to Chelsea
