In spite of the persistent heat wave this summer, a number of groups continued to be active. (See: Goings On At All Souls) In addition, the feeding programs managed to find the volunteers necessary to provide meals for their clients each Monday and Friday.

Much of this double issue is devoted to reports from the delegates to the UUA General Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas, which was held from June 23 to June 27, 2005. The Quarterly article is the vehicle for delegates to share what they have learned at GA and to inform the congregation of what is going on in the denomination. This year we had wonderful, thoughtful reports from all of our delegates, who provided information on a wide spectrum of GA offerings. It is a way for the members of this congregation to stay in touch with the denomination at large.

The Quarterly wants to welcome the Rev. Cheryl Walker, whom many of us knew a few years ago as an Intern at All Souls, as our new Assistant Minister replacing the Rev. Alison Miller, who is moving on to her own pultit in Morristown, NJ. Our best wishes to both of them as they start their new endeavors.

Over my initial protest, my co-editor Lois Chazen devoted her Who We Are column to write about me. I agreed, in the end, because it is a way of sharing with all of you my really unusual chance to represent a group of Holocaust survivors at a moving ceremony to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of one of the many camps in Germany during WWII.

Lois has also provided an article in this issue on two series of lectures on Dante and Eliot, respectively.
