The major event for the winter quarter was Dr. Church’s return to the All Souls pulpit after his serious operation. On each of the two occasions he has preached so far, the pews have overflowed with congregants delighted to welcome him back and see him in full voice and vigor again. A second major milestone related to his illness and return was a special congregational meeting at which the Rev. Dr. Galen Guengerich was called as our principal Minister. He will, at Forrest’s request, formally take over the administrative leadership of All Souls. An article pertaining to special Congregational Elections appears in this issue.

Other matters covered in this Quarterly include a brief review of the extremely successful February Auction. The church member discussed in this quarter’s “Who We Are” article was, among his other endeavors, an active participant in the growth of the Heart and Soul Auction program.

Walter Klauss, our Minister of Music, celebrated his 30 years at All Souls with a wonderful organ concert capped by a spectacular party in Reidy-Friendship Hall. Other special events included Chinese New Years, a heart-wrenching presentation of the award-winning German film Sophie Scholl by Cinema All Souls, a report about a Young Adult Group trip to help rebuild homes for the flood victims of New Orleans and a report about a new Women’s Alliance project aimed at preventing Human Trafficking, a subject also currently highlighted by the UU-UNO.

There were too many other interesting programs at All Souls to mention or review in this issue. As we grow, so do our activities, our interests and our concerns with the world beyond our church doors. If you feel one of your special interests or activities has been slighted on these pages in recent times, please let us know.
