Children's and Youth Worship

Taryn Strauss, DRE, leads children’s worship for  1st-4th graders in the Chapel on Sundays from 10-10:15AM.  Kindergarteners worship in the Mary-Ella Holst room from 10-10:15AM with Worship Leader Lehna Huie.

Worship Leaders Elizabeth Murray and Sara Angell-Isom lead 5th and 6th grade worship in the Minot-Simons room from 11:15-11:30AM, following a form that is consistent with all the ages of Children’s Worship.

Taryn Strauss, along with Youth Worship Associates, leads Youth Worship from 11:00-11:15AM in the Forrest Church Gallery for grades 7-12.  We will continue the rituals and traditions of children’s worship, reflect on the topic of the Adult worship, and craft a worship service that holds the deepest meaning for us all.

Led by Taryn Strauss, Director of Religious Education, as well as other Worship Leaders on staff, with guest appearances by All Souls ministers, these services are an opportunity for the children of the Religious Education Program at All Souls to experience worship centered around age-appropriate themes that are congruent with the sermon topic in “adult worship.”

Children engage in rituals of movement, song and prayer, following a common thread throughout their childhoods and preparing them for adult worship once they have bridged out of the RE program.  In worship, they are introduced to stories and ideas which explore our Unitarian Universalist identity and the context in which we live.
